I knew Bob for 20+ years as a good friend.We had numerous laughs together and shared a few tears together.I'm glad to have known such a good person.Henry Dickinson,Bob my family and I would frequent spots around New England and have some great times.He was the best Santa for the local kids on the Liberty Bell.I am sad to see that his time has come,but knowing his pain is over is bittersweet. I will forever remember you Bob, you were the best. -Adam Kezer

RIP Bob, you were a great friend to me and always extended your knwoledge to me at STM. It was an honor to operate under you. Thank you for the many memories and smiles you put on my face everyday at work; I would not be where I am now without you! You will be missed by all of us at STM. I feel safe with you looking down upon me. My thoughts and prays are for you and your family during this tragic time. Thank you, Bob. It's sad for you to leave us, but you will always be there within us.

yeah i hate to burst your bubble but i drive and fix subway cars and trolleys here in boston for the mbta. and by that old school method of repairing flatwheels spinning them on the rails is the sure way for a repairer to get fired. By spinning the wheel like that you throw off the depth of the flange and you definitly bound for a derailment hopefully these practices are not taking place in the maintenance facilities in septa because that would really be a shame.

I think the key word here is "slight."
This was a probably semi emergency situation where there was a lot of pressure to get the cars right back out. I'm sure you are correct in saying that if that was done all the time it would be bad practice, resulting in improperly profiled wheels. I have no doubt it was done in extreme situations and very sparingly. I'll ask him next time I see him.
