In 1972, Atar Arad received the City of London prize as laureate of the international Carl Flesch Competition for violin and viola. He achieved his major artistic break-through in the same year when the international Geneva Music Compeition unanimously awarded him the first prize, the first time in the history of the competition that it had ever bee given for viola playing. Here, Mr. Arad presents a series of Historical Collections for the Viola, with his own Cadenzas as recorded during the 1976-1978 time period. Mr. Arad is presently a Viola Professor at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN
