@TheGoldendoodle98765 Well just work at it, because my Golden is always shaking now. Think he realized how happy I was that I finally taught him to do it, so now he does it constantly without me telling him to. I'm sitting on the couch, he comes up and sits in front of me, I pet him, and he keeps trying to shake. Tricks = treats, he knows this.

My 7 month Golden Retriever picked this up really fast. He pretty much did it the first session. Which is annoying because he doesn't Shake at all.

How is he with the 'down' and 'stay' commands? It might be better to teach those first so he doesn't get up all the time.

Keep trying - Cassie didn't really like it at first either. It took me several attempts to get her okay with being on her side. Good luck!

All I can tell you is to practice. Get the treat next to his side but not so close to his face, so that he has to turn his head and reach (without getting up) to get the treat. Make sure it's something really yummy that he'll love -- cut up pieces of hot dogs or cheese seem to work. It takes a few (sometimes several) tries to get them on their sides, but it's worth the effort!
