  • I saw him play in Prague, but about a decade after this. Unfortunately I do not recall the programme. Do you have any reference to that concert?

  • @oldoperafan What you are talking about could be 2nd June 1975 at Prague Rudolfinum. He played Beethoven Sonata 3 and 3 Bagatelles from op.126 in the first part and the "Hammerklavier" in the second, plus Wagner "Schmachtend" as an encore

  • Sensationell, vielen Dank! Ich kenne die Aufnahme mit Carlos Kleiber und ihm sehr genau. Hier sieht man, w i e Richter Klavier spielt, unübertroffen.

    Fantastisch!

  • @berlinzerberus This is a really terrific footage. Enjoy!

  • MAGNIFICENT!!

  • @belshep Thank you - yes, I think so too, as I remember it was summer-y. Immediately after my post I found a very detailed website devoted to Richter, trovar.com, and I wanted to add this to my posting, but YT would not let me post in quick succession. The concert is listed there. He spent a lot of time moving his piano stool before beginning, as I recall. Then - magic happened. The website ruly punishing schedule with often daily concerts, and many in what could now be called backwater towns.

  • WHAT A MARVELLOUS TREASURE!

  • Finally the whole performance! Don't know how to express the gratitude. Compared to the recording with Kleiber this live performance was less polished, but with much adventurousness and fearlessness. Magnificent!

  • great!

  • Fantastic-I never thought I would come accross these two last movements.

    Thanks

  • here you are!
