Heavy snowfall has blocked roads affecting local transport in India's Himachal Pradesh state. Snow clearing operations are now underway.

Heavy snowfall over the last few days has blocked essential roads and made life difficult in India's northern Himachal Pradesh state.

On Wednesday, many roads in the Kullu district were blocked.

A number of bus routes have been cancelled due to the snow collected on the roads.

The district's public works department has started snow-clearing operations using heavy machines.

Locals say they're also dealing with a water shortage and limited electricity.
