some of what I've been doing this week: this is a video of phototactic behaviour in Daphnia magna. With red light alone, they have the tendency to stay close to the bottom of the flask. As soon as the blue light comes on they start swimming upwards, and when the blue light goes off they immediately cease phototaxis.

  • they orient themselves with light so during the day they swim up to eat the algae on the surface of the water :)
