Plans to fast-track a new generation of nuclear power stations are set to be unveiled by Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband. . Follow us on twitter at http://twitter.com/itn_news
Lol, I think I get my energy through EDF, why? Does my energy supplier effect your inability to provide an argument? I agree the money spent invading Iraq could have bought us a lovely set of nuclear reacors though, maybe even built a barrage on the river Severn.
Im not going to make your argument for you, if you have some ground breaking reason as to why Chernobyl means nuclear is so evil then go ahead.
Or maybe there are serious economic and technical reasons that mean combustion engines simply can't be abandoned? Oh wait no, i forgot about the giant conspiracy.
Also do you have a point to make about the Chernobyl disaster or do you want me to make it for you?
"money is corrupt" therefore I will ignore the fact that my solution is not affordable or achievable. Great argument there. The very fact you think power can be generated 'for free' with renewable is laughable.
If the powers that be really cared about the earth they would start to implement the change over from oil/gas for our cars to maybe all electronic/biofuel or even hydrogen.
Are you aware of a place called Chernobyl and what happened there?
*sigh* the money system is corrupt but if we talk about money it doesn't matter which will be cheaper or not it should be about what is BETTER for humans and the earth. Nuclear power is NOT the best step to take. Just big people want more money and power.
I mean, people should not be able to generate their power for free locally should they??
dams are the best source of green energy there is, although I'm not surprised your ignorant of that! I'm not sure you even understand the idea of generating green electricity when you suggest using biomass. Again however I will state the facts, nuclear is cheaper than all green solutions except dams. Wave power simply can not be built quickly enough or cheaply enough to have any real effect on our carbon emissions.
Setup costs? Please, these nuclear power stations take so much time and energy to build the only thing more complicated and costly is dismantling them. Forget Renewables, it is about SUSTAINables. (HEMP for instance - SUSTAINABLE unlike coal and oil)
Tidal power - has limitless supply if setup correctly.
The bottom line is the year is 2009. We have more efficient, cleaner and safer ways to produce power. So we are going backwards
Literate? You admit you are completely ignorant about these things called setup costs. Also how the hell are you going to get 100% from renewables! Also 170,000 died in the Banqiao dam disaster, several thousand times more than all nuclear accidents put together.

Ok so which energy company are you affiliated with?
The country can afford to pay for mass death and destruction in another country for 7 years but wont spend money on making peoples lives better here.
Do you really honestly believe there is no corruption?
You just happy with what you got and don't really give a damn about anything else but you and your immediate world.
You tell me what happened at Chernobyl.

Who said anything about dams.

You calling me stupid without knowing anything about me. What does that make you?
They are better because the supply is limitless and they pose no danger to people or the environment. Like Nuclear Power stations.
