Many People Think "Motherlode" Was A Motown or Philly Group...But They Were Actually From Canada! This Silky Smooth Groove Is Truly A Soul/Pop Classic. It Made Up To #18 In 1969.

This one is true golden oldie that has a grooving essence. It received plenty of air time on the AM dial thanks to 1050 CHUM. Listening to this beauty takes me back to a warm sunny summer in Scarborough Ontario Canada during the care free days of lost youth. Great song. Thanks!

  • Great song, RIP J Dilla (great sample of it)

  • Mike, always loved this song ever since I was a kid.

"When I Die" is a beautifully written pop record - the perfect marriage of lyric and melody.

This song has always touched me.

    Thanks always Mike!

    Cheers,

    James

  • Aside from the fact that this is an incredible song, and Dilla turned it into a masterpiece, I'd also like to congratulate the uploader on some stunning visuals, in particular the "man" montage which begins at 3:43.

  • co-producer Doug Riley thats why this kills - supreme arranger and soulman and hard bop bandleader on B-3 - w PJ Perry here in Scotia the highest level of CDN jazz endeavour I ever expect to hear

  • Bass by Carol Kaye

  • 1969 Ft. Wainwright Alaska, US Army 6th Bn 9th Inf (Manchu) 171st Brigade Mechanized.

  • This song is also the same sound clip remix from Adult Swim's ACTN Bump Owls Only.

  • I see why why J Dilla sampled it... the change up (?) hits so hard!

  • This song and the donuts intro were like J-Dilla saying goodbye for the last time...
