Film Description: On the eve of her sister's wedding, suburban teenager Samantha (Molly Ringwald) suffers silently as her family forgets her birthday. Even worse, some total dork (Anthony Michael Hall) keeps propositioning her with sophomoric innuendo when she really craves romantic attention from high-school hunk Jake (Michael Schoeffling). Moving from Samantha's family home as it's invaded by outre relatives to a high-school dance where nothing seems to go her way, this bittersweet teen comedy traces the hopes and disappointments of not only Samantha, but also a host of incidental but memorable characters, from a hapless Japanese exchange student to a prom queen and a posse of barely pubescent nerds. A climactic party scene at which these various strata of young America overcome their rigid hierarchies sets the stage for resolutions both tender and torrid.

I know the feeling. It's my bday today but my mum told me to clean up the bathroom and that she didn't feel like driving me somewhere, my dad has no idea (hasn't for every one of my birthdays), and my brother yelled at me and told me to get out. :| if it isn't surprising, i hate my birthday.

She thought I forgot it was her birthday, but i just hadn't seen her yet to give her the present. She made a big fuss about it so I thought I better make it up to her or something :/ Yeah, I don't like to make a fuss about my birthday (anymore), but most of my friends do. I'm 16 :) It's my close friend's birthday this weekend, how ironic :S Not sure what to get her, she's also one of the people that make a huge fuss. Oh well, i'll just suck it up.

not much, it's basically the same. My mum bought me a ring for my birthday because I turned a pretty significant age. My two brothers, sister, dad didn't realize either. I was pretty sad because neither did my friends, even after telling them it a week before. They didn't believe me when I told them. Kind of funny to see 'friends' reactions. I was talking on the phone to my friend, in jan she made me get her expensive presents on her bday, but she forgot mine, got a sense of joy from it haha.
