I was in Coney Island to watch the 2 best compete in 2010.I was so mad when Kobyashi couldnt compete and later got arrested.I think Nathan's shouldve allowed it.It just wasn't the same and Joey Chestnutt had no real competition.Konyashi revolutionized speed eating and it is not the same without him.Kobayashi should be mentioned in the same sentence as Michael Jordan!

@DungChow Remember when July 4th was a day for guys to go down to Coney Island and compete in a Hot Dog eating contest? Then MLE and ESPN got involved and commercialized it. Fine. But why does one have to sign a contract?

Nathan's loses credibility if their organizer thinks they "own" the world record. Guiness is the official keeper of world records and breaking a record doesn't have to be at some contractual event. It just has to happen and be officially recorded.
