Jools Holland and his 18-Piece Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, on the official opening night of the new Indigo O2 Arena, in the Docklands Area of London.

"Tuxedo Junction" is the old Erskine Hawkins standard - it's often said if you can't play this piece without swinging it, you're playing it wrong?!

No worries on that front with Jools and the Band. Great 'Big Band' performance with solos from {1st} Derek Nash on Alto Sax, then Jason McDermid on Trumpet, and finally Nick Lunt on the Baritone Sax.

  • It's not punk!

  • I guess the sold out crowd thought it was very musical. I guess you won't be buying a ticket to see Jools anytime soon I imagine, oh well, looks as though we'll be grooving without you:)

  • that piano player is crazy!!! i wish my jazz band teacher would give me that piano part for our version of the song!!!

  • @Psi4tsi Sorry but jazz isnt just anything with a swing. Listen to 'hunting wabbits' by gordon goodwin's big phat band.

  • He is just great

  • That kind of music makes one happy ...

  • "it's often said if you can't play this piece without swinging it, you're playing it wrong?!"

Of course, it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.

  • its not traditional jazz, but it is jazz none the less, jazz is anything that swings, you get that delayed eighth note jive goin, especially when you find yourself tappin ur foot along with the music.

  • This is jazz. Maybe not "traditional jazz", but it's jazz nonetheless.

  • It's good. Watching this kind of stuff, regardless of whether it is "jazz" or not got me into joing my big band at school and coming to appreciate this stuff a lot more.
