I live in New York City which is notoriously liberal, so with that being the case, I just did what I thought was the "appropriate thing". I don't think that my vote really means anything being here in NYC because of the overwhelmingly liberal voting habits of the denizens of this great city. HOWEVER I will not ever NOT vote. It's a privilege to take part in the representative democratic process, in this constitutional republic. One that many take for granted. You have the right to vote. You have the right to not vote. When you vote, you actually have the right to complain and work towards effective change. When you don't vote, you can still complain and all but, your gripes carry no weight. I am an independent (with Green tendencies) but I voted for the half black dude not because I worship him like so very many others out there, but because I do want to keep Palin out of office. Before she came into the fray, I really didn't care who won the presidential race. People need to realize that politicians are just that; politicians. This dude is inspirational but sincerely, his lack of real governmental leadership (never been a mayor, governor, etc.) and military experience somewhat frightens me, if he were to win. McCain done f*cked up by choosing the Alaskan. Guys just remember, someone is gonna be dissappointed tonight. The presidency is just an office. The POTUS is NOT a totalitarian leader. He has to work in conjunction with the Congress.

  • In a message YOU sent to me, you stated that politicians are just that; politicians. Say that to those people who voted in Joseph Stalin. He spoke with the same passion as "The One" and ended up killing 20 million people, including 14.5 million by starvation. Any who opposed him (ie radio & newspaper) were exterminated. Watch now as "The One" silinces the oppostion via the Fairness Doctrine. When "The One" CAN'T deliver on his promises watch the feeding frenzy begin. Remember these words: O Shit

  • Comparing someone who was given a position by a group who seized power to one who was elected, democratically mind you, is so way off. I am neither red or blue. It k*lls me when so-called conservatives fly this upside-down socialist/communist/Marxist flag when they really don't seem to understand none. I mean honestly if you want to be "real", all politicians are socialists (I mean duh...what do you think the bank bailout was? If anything corporate socialism is worser than worker socialism).

  • Lefties make it trickle from the top-down and vice versa for the right (bottom-up). Stalin was a bellicose demagogue who was nowhere on par with the Cool Hand Luke. The Fairness Doctrine ain't that bad...maybe then CNN will not be so liberal and Fox won't be so pseudo-conservative. We need more neutral journalism. That's the whole point of journalism...tired of the yellow, gonzo journalism that exists merely to placate and to push agendas/vendettas. We need more new journalism.

  • I don't worship Obama but he's more hope-inspiring than McCain ever was. Which is another funny thing because Righties detested the poor old, so-called Maverick because of his middle-of-the-aisle politics but clamored to him when he became their only hope of maintaining Bush politics/perpetuating the Bush Doctrine/etc.

  • Palin was a desparate attempt at going conservative despite her obvious lack of intellect and merit but hey, he knew he was done before he started but you gotta admit that he tried. I really admire McCain but that choice...and his pandering/catering to the base, which he was not known for, turned me off COMPLETELY! He became a company man as it were. The choice became obvious for me. Wasn't even about politics, initiatives, etc. anymore.

  • In closing, this is not a totalitarian state. The POTUS is an office, not a dictatorship. He has veto power but his plans must be approved by Congress...and even with the newly acquired seats in the House and in the Senate, they're not filibuster-proof. So stop with the macabre, morose silliness. What's done is done...8 years of hiccups, false-starts, and overall f*ck ups are almost over. It's time to start anew and be hopeful and work for a better today, as well as tomorrow, friend.

  • New proposed rules from the U S Customs will broaden the definitions of illegal knives to include all Knife's that can be opened with one hand which will in effect ban ALL pocket knives nationwide that can be opened with one hand please go to AKTI before June 18, to help prevent this, the only contribution asked of you is your voice

  • Didn't it though? LOL. I was like wow...this dude is doing it. Honestly, I didn't care who won until Gov. Palin came into the fray. Once she did, it became more about her NOT getting into office than getting into office, ya know? Thanks for the comment!

  • that sure was fun to see his crazy name on that ballot.

  • Hahahahahaha, they're way more stable than the electronic joints. Voting is probably one of the few things that I'll prefer to be analog. Digital voting is just too insecure and open to hacking. I used to complain my d@mned self until Gore and Bush lost elections that they probably won in reality (the conspiracy theorist in me).
