First movement from "Reqieum," a mass, not for the dead, but for the dying - which includes us all - travellers along that final safe and silent mystery which will greet us all at last. The seven movements of Requiem are based on the seven prayers published in the poetry book "Sonata for Voice and Silence" for the Rev. Dr. Mark Belletini's beloved mentor, Harry Scholefield, a stroke victim, who had requested that Belletini write a book of prayers to help him come to terms with the end of his life. These prayers reflected Belletini's visits with Harry, when he would often read or recite prayer poems together. In the final days, when he was no longer in his own home he and his wife read prayers from the book Belletini wrote for him, two every day.
