  • Tom, a really well put together video - very informative.

    I absolutely love those models.

I was wondering whether a soft-focus effect applied to the model footage might help to add realism - might be worth a dabble.

    cheers

    Rick

  • Another excellent production Tom, both entertaining and informative...well done...5* Bob

  • Where did you get your steam sounds

  • I think all of gresleys locomotives should have been left alone

  • @DoctorTankEngine Thanks so much :) That will help me loads when I'm modelling in future!

  • finally... the area where the transfer was will have a shine to it...this is great for Fox transfers as they will stick better.....then when you have applied the new transfer, give a light spray with matt varnish, just to seal the transfer and remove the shine :)

    Hope this helps

  • @HughTheB12

Yep you could easily you do that.....For removing the existing transfers, I would suggest using mircosol.....small bottle with red writing on it (have a look on ebay) put some on with a cotton wool bud over the old transfer, leave for 5 minutues, then with a cotton wool bud with mircoso on it, start rubbing, the great thing with mircosol is it brings the transfer off, but doesn't effect the paint like T-CUT and others do.

  • @DoctorTankEngine So in that case if I wanted a group of A4s in Garter Blue, I'd buy a few Mallards from Hornby and then use e.g. Fox Transfers to turn Mallard, Mallard and Mallard to Mallard, Gadwall and Herring Gull? Then I'd weather them for the best effect?

  • @HughTheB12

Thank you :) with all my locos none have been repainted all are as they were from the box, then further weathered. The Thompson pacifics were all kit built.

    Many thanks

  • @DoctorTankEngine Thompson did have an odd obsession! Your layout and locomotives are simply amazing! Do you sometimes buy a group of say a Hornby Mallard and then use transfers so you have a group of different A4s in Garter Blue?

  • @HughTheB12

They do look odd don't they, all down to Thomspon's obsession that all connecting rods should be of equal length
