See how I use a coffee pot to make an Ayurvedic tea that I use as a moisturizing spritz. I use this tea spritz 4-6 days a week.

See my updated tea spritz video (Jan. 2012):

NOTE: In the video, I add the glycerin and aloe vera gel to the container holding all the tea. This is new for me - normally, I put a little glycerin and aloe vera gel in the spray bottle before adding the tea.

See how I make an ayurvedic hair paste at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dG9Y_2mkFE.

What is an Ayurvedic Tea?
* Indian herbal powders that are brewed to make a tea.
* These teas can be used as a moisturizing spritz or as a hair rinse.

What are Ayurvedic Powders?
* Indian herbal powders that contain natural ingredients.
* They help soften hair, encourage hair growth, and lessen hair fall.
* There are many powders to choose from, designed to either clean or/and condition hair.
* You can use them as a paste or in a tea as a rinse or moisturizing spritz.

Ingredients
½ teaspoon hibiscus powder
½ teaspoon brahmi powder
½ teaspoon maka powder
4 cups water
½ cup aloe vera gel
1/3 cup vegetable glycerin
1 tablespoon silk amino acids
10 drops peppermint essential oil
5 drops ylang ylang essential oil

Ayurvedic Tea Tips
* Make tea in small amounts.
* Keep tea refrigerated.
* Don't use oil in the tea -- it may congeal and clog the sprayer.
* Tea will stay fresh for several weeks.

Do Your Research!
* There are many Ayurvedic powders and recipes.
* Wrong combinations can dry out hair.
*Learn how others use the powders. Search the boards of the Long Hair Care Form, Black Hair Media, and the Curly Nikki Forum.

  • Does this product have any other hair beneifts? And do u have any idea what the ph level is in it?

  • @softleywifey

Hi there. I don't know the PH level, but the powders have several good benefits: stronger hair, they may lessen hair fair, they may add in growing your hair.

  • does brahmi powder or hibicus make your curl loosen

  • @TheAdrz

It hasn't made my hair pattern loose.

  • This is a very neat way to use the ayurvedic powders... I am definitely going to try this. Our coffee pot is just sitting and collecting dust anyway... :-)

These powders are amazing. The more I use them, the more I come to love them! It can take time to blend and use, but totally worth it!

Hey there! On the new directions aromatics web page, you can find the SAA under the raw materials tab in the section called raw materials. It is a Canadian-based company and shipping is a beast! you may find SAA at lotion crafters (another online store).

I have purchased maka from ayurnatural beauty (online store) It is pretty much sold out everywhere else!!!

    I hope this helps!

  • I ma having trouble getting the SAA (couldn't find it in the links), and the Maka powder. They don't sell the Maka in the indian stores in my area, and they are out online. Where can I purchase the SAA? I am eager to try your recipe.

Also, thank you for the tip with the Shea Butter. I've never put it on my hair. I've always used it on my body. I have used Shea Butter hair products that had shea butter in them, and they dried my hair out. Using it alone has left my hair really soft.

  • @NappyNFree Thank you.
