RAM is one of Haiti's most successful music bands and Richard Morse is its frontman. Here Morse is our guide, sharing his perspective on his homeland with the camera. He shows us the fading glamour of his Oloffson hotel, once the haunt of celebrities, and the rickety shacks which crowd the roadsides as he drives through slum after slum.

Bittersweet...In 1997 I traveled to Haiti w/Franck Desire (Asakivle). We saw the beauty of the people and the grief of poverty, schools in shacks, and muddy streets from deforestation. Stayed at the Oloffson and partied with Ram..ate sugar cane while driving the bumpy roads to breathtaking Jacmel..ate lambe n lobster in a dreamy blue cove. Sad to see the pain of Haiti - home of the only successful slave revolt, fueled by vodou..a legacy that they have been forced to pay for ever since! ERACISM!

Hey thanks for ur reply.....I lived in Haiti for 20years....So i know many things about Richard Andre M. I just never caught him speak Creole, that's all....

Wi, he reads and writes Kreyol quite well. His mom is also Haitian, which I guess would make him Haitian.

He is actually the lead vocalist for RAM and his wife does sing the lead on many songs as well, but in others she is "Lead Back UP".
