Never even close to being a drummer. Just not there. Yet I have a huge appreciation for drummers and bassists. The backbone behind the flesh. Quadrant 4 and 12 bars from Mars, have always hit home for me. I always enjoy reading professional comments from professional musicians. It helps me to have a greater overall musical appreciation. i like lenny's style. his smooth taste, and his choices....that solo was like controlled thunder and centered around sound. Its free from pyrotechenical bombastic cliched statements so often associated with drumming. As an improvisation, what lenny plays....feels good and is fun to listen to, isnt that what its all about.....i love Billy's artistry....others debate who is better and these guys go on creating statements. I wanna be like these guys.

after seeing him play and Cobham (back with "Mahavishnu" and on his own, I dare to compare both greats, but Lenny is the absolute professional and dymanic person who I had the pleasure to meet and interview so I am bias...this guy can play JAZZ rock, true Jazz or pregrssive as well as any style from Hip Hop to funk to rock where as Billy was in another league. They both are tremendous but Lenny is an all around knowledgable, and kick ass drummer.
