Grumpy Jii-san's been watching cartoons for way too long. After watching a recent manga adaptation, he'll chat about it.

This time, the narration is shot in the Tonopah Desert.

  • Ojii-san, have you watched the first half of Natural yet? Didn't it ship a while ago?

Wait till you get to the end of season 3, you will be in tears. You shouldn't marathon it, watch a max a few episodes a day, perfect for chilling out. Get maximum effect by watching alone, since if you watch it someone else, it will just feel sappy and you will be more likely embarrassed about watching it.

Are they going to release the OVA (DVD only episode) in america too?

  • Both parts of Nozomi's North American release of A:Natural are out, and I've watched 'em all, and even recorded some comments which I should get around to posting within the month.

If by 3rd season you mean what's called The Origination, it doesn't look like that's been licensed for the US, at least not yet. Nor the OVA. I'm onboard if Nozomi does.

  • You seem to be well aware of how Slice of Life anime play out(or the lack of them playing out!), and seeing as you at the very least enjoyed Aria, I highly suggest Mushishi if you haven't already seen it. It's a lot more than a simple Slice of Life like Aria; not that Aria is less of an anime because of its simplicity.

  • Accoring to animenewsnetwork:

"Right Stuf will ship the first box set of 13 episodes from Aria the Animation on September 30, and the set's DVDs will include Japanese audio and English subtitles. More of the anime, which includes the next two television seasons Aria the Natural and Aria the Origination as well as Aria the OVA ~Arietta~, will follow thereafter."

So they have lisenced everything of aria, just a matter of time when they release them, good news.

    Awaiting your commentary!

  • You should review Maria-sama ga miteru next

  • GrumpyJiisan, the impression I get from Aria is one of atmosphere. You are right in saying Neo-Venezia is an idealized place. The mangaka Amano once referred to it as a "futuristic healing" show, and it's the perfect type of stress relief after a long day at the office. You noted as much in your review, and I'd go so far to say that it is the raison d'etre for Aria. It's the anime equivalent of "Chicken Soup for the Soul".

  • I like how you added some more personality to your reviews.

  • I lol'd at his bit at the end.

  • I need to watch this... all my free time is gone during college though -_- I'll be watching this soon though.

  • I've been wondering if you were going to review this. Felt like mentioning it before. Love that series.
