Installed Ubuntu 7.10 on my Wife's laptop, I got no choice tho, DVDROM busted, usb boot don't support, pcmcia usb boot only support 16bit cardbus (which I can't buy one anymore) so I got a 2.5inch external box, installed ubuntu and reconfigure after install back.
Toshiba A40 241 Laptop
Celeron 2.7Ghz/40G/512m ram/intel 855GME

I replaced the WinDOZE Vista on my laptop with Ubuntu and I don't regret it one bit. It runs a lot more smoothly and I am completely happy with it. My keyboard, integrated mouse, sound, internet connection etc. etc. worked just fine after the install. I saw lots of people complaining that those things didn't work for them. I suggest the install of Ubuntu to everyone.
