Water makes up about 70% of the human body. It is needed for life. It helps transport things in organisms, and they help dissolve ions like sugar and other things. As shown in the video water is polar, it is temperature resistant, and it expands when it is frozen. Water attracts to other substance such as sugar and the water dissolves the sugar, making the water sweeter. If you boil water, it would take much longer then boiling oil, because of the hydrogen bond. A hydrogen bond is a week bond between hydrogen and oxygen atoms. Water expands when it is frozen because air bubbles are created and it is made less dense then water Not only that, but there is something called the capillary action where water is able to go up long thin tubes. It is caused by water's polarity of attracting to itself and to the plant's surface.

  • True. I just learned that it is less dense because the hydrogen bonds created are more stable and more spread apart then in water. Where as, in water, hydrogen bonds are consitantly being detroyed. But I only learned that in AP Biology summer homework, and this was just CP Biology in the summer.

  • Ice is not less dense than water because of air bubbles in the ice.
