Three African lions, a black leopard and three cougars came from the Catskill Game Farm in New York to TWS in December 2006. With the closure of their animal park, the game farm auctioned off 950 animals and made east coast and national headlines.
Animal welfare activists worried that some of the animals would wind up in the hands of unscrupulous dealers, or people who run 'canned hunt' operations, where an individual can pay to shoot fenced-in animals.
Many groups intervened and negotiated placement of animals in sanctuaries while others purchased animals to ensure their fate. It is described as one of the largest animal rescues of its type.

shit i miss this game farm. live in ravena been there at least 100 times mostly deer there but the lions and rhinos will always be in my heart!
