Thank you Dr. I work with substance abusing women who exhibit these symptoms but are told by the psychiatrist that they do not have a problem, just need to manage their behaviours.I would like for you to educate your collegues to bring relief to these suffering souls.

I don't know if anyone else sees it this way favete43, but whenever I come across "branded" therapy, especially anything with the word "Life" in the title, I instantly think : PROFIT MOTIVE. Not criticizing your research, I haven't scrutinized it enough to do that, Just marketing choices. This is serious shit, and when the brand sounds like some kind of tony robbins book tour it really turns me off. But then again, being borderline myself, shitting on your parade is kinda my Raison d'être.

@plalelal Schema Focused Therapy

@favete43 Hmmmm......to many therapies pose to place blame on something ie; past, upbringing, parents...the borderline has to admit the issue is them or no healing with take place. Just my 2 cents.

@KristalynJ k it's 2 years, my LCSW. What is this SFT?

I liked your analysis and presentation. You're (914), I used to live in that area! Been in Cornell, White Plains. The condition for success: "appropriate partner" is tricky. What if your partner is not appropriate (as I now believe my 23 years of it has been) - but everyone focused on the material wealth and superficial stability, ignoring the partner's invalidating, poor coping skills? Years of accepting life as is has made me unsure of myself. I try to end the relationship... sylvester, NYC

jeez, 9 check marks here

@favete43 If you look at all the current research SFT has the highest precentage of success. it IS newer so has less stats. Much of the research is abroad. Even Marsha Lenehan said that she now knows DBT isn't the best treatment out there....or the ONlyY treatment. let me see if I can find some links for u.....

@favete43 And...you don't want to change the personality structure.....leave that alone. That is NOT what needs fixing.....does that make sense? That is why other forms of treatment here in the US are failing...they are going after the wrong things...
Unless you are referring to Japan, then maybe because I am not well educated on that countries research or data.....I am strictly talking US.......and one program in general that is available in the US, Germany, The Netherlands, Scottland and Prague....

@KristalynJ You must represent Schema Therapy if you are already teaching 25 of former BP, and know 100. BPD is 'borderless' as its treatments. While presenting at ISSPD Congress in the Hague (2007), I learned that Schema Therapy is more popular in Europe than other approaches (Mentalization, DBT, and TFT) producing reduction of symptoms of BPD to less than 50% of original level. I also learned that underlying personality structure remained essentially unchanged, despite 'successful treatments.'

I'd have to see you statistics. I had a get together with 25 Former borderlines last night. That was just from My class. All have the diagnosis removed. So you 250 or whatever number isn't accurate, sorry. I personally know of at least a hundred here in Indy. Look up Jefferey Young, Dr. Joan Farrell, Schema Focused Therapy research (In the US and Netherlands and Germany). I can provide links. I spoke at the conference here as well and know these people personally.

@KristalynJ I will be happy to send you a brief summary of my APA presentation, "Goal, Method, and Result of Lifetrack Therapy" if you identify yourself and give me your email. My statistics is modest but accurate based on 224 patients I have treated over the years. About 50% achieved transformation based on their own daily self-rating on 41 parameters. How do Schema Therapy measure success? Are your 25, and 100 former BP's now well adjusted and happy? If so, why are they still meeting?

it's all about "Validation", "Awareness and "education" for the Borderline. Negative therapies in anyway don't work. Schema Focused Therapy has proven to be the most successful. I have data to back that up. I doubt there is much successful data something like this not only works but sticks and has any kind of remission rate.

@KristalynJ Once borderlline personality is successfuly transformed through Lifetrack therapy, 'remission' seems to be rare though my base of statistics is only 224 thus far. Lifetrack therapy considers the patient's borderline personality as his/her 'normal' state, and the goal of therapy is to help them become 'abnormal' by breaking out of their existing personality. Once a formerly borderline personality transforms into a happy and stable one, he/she tends naturally to keep it as 'new norm.'
