@TheSanctifiedSoldier Yes, I hear those references, but also Arif Mardin in the swirling, dreamy orchestral arrangement. Still, I'd love to hear her work with intense female songwriters like Me'Shelle Ndegeocello or Patrice Rushen or Shelby Lynn or Rickie Lee Jones or Lucinda Williams. Then again, I'd actually welcome a great American straight-ahead JAZZ songbook collection from Khan. A no frills affair. Simple Jazz combos or just voice and guitar or voice and piano. Just letting the diva SANG.

This is really a treat. Indeed an artist at work. And maybe, just maybe, one of these days Chaka and Penny will do an entire album together. Chaka didn't have her as a BGV for nothin'. Penny Ford is a powerhouse vocalist in her own right.

You can hear the Rufus influence still lingering in the symphony...Imagine Soul/R&B + Orchestra and Chaka....Barry White and Quincy were awesome Maestros to blend the styles all the back then and Chaka keeps the torch of collaboration well lit..and she werks the hell outta the background...fabulous
