Spoken word performed at UCSD International House' Sunday Supper, Fall 2008. LYRICS:
Bring the Light
By Chris McCoy
They say the climates changing
Day and night is rearranging
We all just human beings
We need some angels to come save us
But Hark, I see no angels
In this dangerous time
As young kids witness genocide
Their warm hearts turn to ice
But I spit hot fire
hope I dont burn the mic
I write a song in the hopes of
turning wrongs to right
I speak for those who no longer have the luxury of life
Their stories untold, they are the ghosts of the night
And now night is creeping in, its getting dark outside
But we cant lose hope, cuz hope is hard to find
So when you have hope,
hold onto it tight
Cuz hope is that golden flame,
that can turn dark into light
And dont let fear take hold
Not even in times of strife
Its better to light a candle
than to curse the night. (x2)
We are the ones who must begin to turn the old wrongs right.
So bring your light into the world, and let that light burn bright.
