"YOu-Know-Who" (I hope I know who you're talking about) never intended to take the sword out. You-Know-Who was just experimenting to see if the sword could be pulled out in an alternative way.

@916myspacefreak Gawen uses butter to remove the sword, and then reveals that he is a girl (Gwen). Knowledge of arthurian legend will point out that she is Arthur's future wife.

I read this book and I really loved it. This one is one of my favorites! If you guys like fantasy books like this one, check out these other books that I read: The Rogues (by Jane Yolen), Forest Born, Enna Burning, Goose Girl, and Wolf Brother. Also for girls (and possibly boys), you should read Royal Diaries books. All about real princesses in time. And it's not boring like a history book. It's actually addictive!!!
