  • I'm optimistic too! Sport's ability to be a convening tool and a tool for inclusion is undeniable. Finding more ways to use sport to bring people/groups together and have meaningful dialog about social issues and concerns and ultimately develop solutions together - like the Homeless World Cup/HWC - should be a goal for our leaders.

I've personally seen the power of sport change lives and I've witnessed first-hand the impact of the HWC. Keep being a human catalyst, Mel!

  • We are optimistic too. The re-evaluation that is now taking place in the world of economy and business is just what was needed. It is a great opportunity for social innovation and values like fairplay to be a vital part. Sport is a great leveller.

  • it's like using a strategy similar to that in sports in attacking this economic predicaments

  • sport sounds so another-planet to economics but yeah...i think sports can really help...maybe one things: it's an prima facie evidence that people, if in unison to a belief and in unison to a goal, could always unite..like in sports diverse people from diverse place unite...it shows that unity is never really impossible

  • See this in action at the Milan 2009 Homeless World Cup 3-16 September in one of the most football passionate cities in the world. The amazing spirit of fair play will show the world the power of sport in action.

  • We definitely agree with Mel- sport used as a tool to aid and improve the lives of those that are socially excluded is undoubtedly vital. Whether it's around poverty, crime, peace, environment - issues that affect the entire globe - sport can help move forward.
