I totally understand and identify with this one, I'm 28, I was younger when this was a big hit but remember liking it and didn't really think about the meaning but after really doing some living and learning I know all too well what he means, its an agonizing feeling!

@jayfiver The song is written from the point of a man falling for a married woman. Hence the line "On your hand, is a promise made to another man". Basically he is saying that he is falling for her and he wants her to stay away because he cannot say no to being with her (or wanting to) but he knows it is wrong.
