Puertoricans and African-Americans have extremely close ties particularly in the northeast (NY, Boston, Philly). The ties go back to the civil rights movements, whites use to attack and target blacks as well as puerto ricans, we fought for the same struggle, we live in the same neighborhoods, and we go through the same things in life. Plus a large amount of puertoricans have some distant African roots as well that date back to the old days.
