Hm. I get what he wants to say, but skill points should have stayed in. They add depth to the customization of the character, and increase the rift between players who know what they want and noobs. Titan Quest did it, MrWilson probably played Titan Quest, as it is one of the best D2 clones, so he should know it can be done.
The truth is, games today are getting over-simplified so they can get a bigger audience, and therefore - more money for the companies.
I was hoping for Blizzard to be smart

@ChildrenofAmory Yes... So it does look like shit... Like I said...
-
@Claad2 Oh, and genius, the games "look like shit" now, because they're almost two decades old. Learn the difference between aesthetic design and polygon count. Artstyle =/= graphics. PacMan looked like shit too! Bravo.
-
@Claad2 Actually, it was what I said, you just didn't understand it.
-
@Raztheeccentric Uh..what? Do you always have to imagine a point to counter argue? I never said they did, which is why they offer D3 if you hate your money/time enough to subscribe to a year of WoW.
Anyone who who denies the shift in artstyle to appeal to WoW-tards is a brain dead fanboy. Blizzard admitted it. It's ironic, you indirectly call me retarded when your reading comprehension is that of a goldfish.
-
@Raztheeccentric Agreed, but Blizzard games in general are often more cartoony than other games of the same genre. Sure Diablo isn't as cartoony, but I still get the Blizzard art style vibes from the game (That's not a bad thing). Humans in WoW look out of place even in WoW now, that model is so old and quite shit, to be honest. :d

@Claad2 I have no idea why people think that WoW and D3 use the same art style. The only similarity I see between D3 and WoW's art are that they are fantasy worlds. D3 has more realistic, less cartoony proportions than anything in WoW. The architecture is primarily sharp lines and corners while WoW's is all circles and curves. Even wow humans would look out of place in D3.

PR talk. Yes, its nice that we don't need to do all these inconvenient things that made D2 laborious at times. The problem is that he doesn't mention that all these qualities highly limit the shelf life of the game, which is their true intention. Release a title, milk it dry in 12 months, move on with another title and completely drop support of the former...The Kotick way.
-
@ChildrenofAmory Why would they purposely want players to play D3 instead of WoW? WoW's subscription is their primary source of income and D3 is free to play. The extra purchases they could get from making D3 into wow-lite is vastly lower than what the subscription losses would be.
Anyone who thinks that D3 is the same art style as wow or they are trying to appeal to wow players at the cost of any other market must be functionally retarded.
i could listen to this guy talk about diablo 3 all day

@xXxXGODofCODXxXx There is no replacing Diablo 2, but Diablo 3 will at least give us a modern version free of endless spam bots that ruined the experience of D2 online.
