A group of evil Tikis known as the Tiki Tak Tribe arrive on Donkey Kong Island and hypnotize the animals on the island to steal Donkey Kong's bananas. This forces him to retrieve the hoard with the help of Diddy Kong. The different types of Tikis fill the role of the antagonists this time, replacing the Kremlings, which do not appear in the game.
