Tourism film by Dodson, Craddock & Born produced on film in 1964. The Spanish music--well, ALL the music, is just hilarious, and the scriptwriting old school. Be watching for the segment on the Pensacola Open (held at the Pensacola Country Club in 1964) where the narrator points out Tom Watson in the blue sweater--but it's all in black & white!!! Shows the old Casino building at Casino Beach (Pensacola Beach), Fort Pickens State Park (now Gulf Islands National Seashore) and ginormous mahogany logs dropping off the side of a huge cargo ship into the harbor to be lashed together and floated down to Bayou Chico, where they were "processed" at the Mahogany Mill. A fascinating look into Pensacola's past, even if some of the facts are a little sketchy....

  • I can't believe this has so many hits already! Just shows you what a great place this is, that so many folks have so many fond memories of living or visiting here.

So glad we could put it on YouTube!

  • @mailgilbs True, i recent thought about and realize that the city limit of Pensacola is very smaller than the region of Pensacola which include smaller towns such as West Pensacola,Brent,Ferry Pass,Warrington, and Ensley.

  • @850SneakerHead Yes, it is the real population of Pensacola. The region is much larger, but that has little to do with the municipal tax base and city population.

  • @Tip345 well they lost business when the sancarlos hotel was tooken down, stars used to got there. and all the entertainment on the beach which has tooken the business away from pensacola downtown, its too layed back , they are scared of change. it could be one of the most popular cities along the gulf coast.they really need a change

  • @lukeInf86 walmart took over

  • @piracymoney THATS NOT THE REAL POPULATION.THE REAL POPULATION OF PENSACOLA DONT EVEN LIVE IN THE CITY LIMITS OF PENSACOLA. MOST OF US STAY IN THE COUNTY OF ESCAMBIA COUNTY.WHICH HAS POPULATION OF 300,000 STRONG! LOOK IT UP.

  • Population 1960 - 56,752

    Population 2009 - 54,169

  • @0903devildog

There was never any oil in Pensacola or anywhere on the emerald coast. The media blew everything out of proportion.
