According to Tommy Igoe's definitions from his groove essentials, I believe he is playing a Soca and then a Songo. Some would interpret it slightly different and say that's a calypso groove instead of a soca. They both come from Trinidad, you can read more by searching "Soca Music", "Calypso Music", and the like on Wikipedia.

@k4n1023 "Soca" and "Calypso groove" are synonymous. "Soca" is short for "Soul Calypso". And I love how you Tommy Igoe always practices what he preaches by utilizing his one of his 47 essential grooves and making it identifiable.
