When a powerful politician paved the way for the drilling of oil and gas in the Gulf Islands National Seashore, he did not expect opposition from a coalition of unlikely environmentalists who prefer a lasting tourist trade and pristine beach to temporary gain.

  • @DustyMarlin You are the idiot since you have no common sense. The world revolves around oil, if you haven't noticed. So if you want to be a tree hugger, then I have a tree that you can hug.

  • @amishron61 You are an idiot. Do you think that oil is the most important thing in the world? You want to be less dependent on foreign oil, dumbass? How about supporting alternative energy instead of fucking up our coast.

  • The Sierra Club is an inbred group that doesn't get it. We need new oil & gas reserves to keep America less dependent on foreign oil. To the Sierra Club I say this. Improve the forest, plant a Sierra Clubber.

  • The Sierra Club accepted over U.S.$100M (from David Gelbaum), to NOT discuss immigration and overpopulation. They are not a credibly unbiased source. The only real, workable long-term environmental strategy is a curb on immigration to develped countries and funding family-planning initiatives in the third world. Overpopulation is the primary problem.

  • We're gonna tap that oil and fund our needs with the revenue it provides the government from taxes. It will create jobs. It will keep dollars in America instead of Arabia. I look forward to tappin that ASSet!

  • Call oil evil all you like, it is the blood of the world's industrial economies. The United States can tap for oil safely. Lets get real and lessen our unecessary dependence on countries that wish our destruction. We can simultaneously research better useage and better energy technologies. Tap The Gulf!
