This is a greeting from Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu for the beginning of the 2006 Out in Africa Film Festival.

If only more people practised this approach, rather than religious bigotry, how much better would the world be?!

  • OMGGGGGGGGGGGG I LOVE ITTTTTTTT THAT IS WHY IM CATHOLICCCCCCCCCCC...!!!!!!!!!! U GUYSSSSSSSSSSSSS CATHOLIC IS THE BEST RELIGION WE DNT HATE ANYONEEEEEEEEEEEEE..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Maricarmen417 I'm sure some would debate that ... I've faced homophobia from Catholics, but I recognise it's not the same for all ... I guess it depends where you are and who you talk to. Thanks for watching the video.

  • Oh, and thank you for screening the messages: the best way to silence the bigots is... by ignoring them.

  • Thanks auntiesanity. It's not so much an attempt to silence as a recognition that there are plenty of people speaking out against the LGBT community, while those who are supportive and inclusive do not have the same freedom to speak or opportunities to be heard.

  • How is it that South Africans (supposedly Third World) are so far ahead of the West when it comes to matters of phiosophy, sociology, theology, and politics? It is remarkable.

  • South Africa's felt the sting of discrimination. As a result, the country doesn't want to return there. However, I guess it to some degree it still depends which area you're in and who you're speaking to.

  • @Maricarmen417

    desmond tuto isn't catholic...

  • @Maricarmen417 Bishop Tutu is an Anglican.

  • What an utterly amazing message. England's Anglicans need to catch up.

  • God bless you too!
