I agree, you definitely should forward your feedback to the project, hopefully they will take that into account.
However, it is COMPLETELY unacceptable and inappropriate for a party leader to threaten to strip them of their tax-exempt status just because they are posting factual information about the party/candidate refusing to answer questions.
@realitiesupremebeing I personally like VoteSmart so far, but I still have to audit and research it myself. Still, if it actually works and is accurate it is a really neat tool for all the dumbed-down or lazy Americans who wouldn't research themselves otherwise.
@realitiesupremebeing Holy crap, tone it down! Using all caps and referencing conspiracy theories without context appears to speak for a lack of mental stability. "The proof is in the way you treat the candidates". That is speculation at best. Talk shit when you have ACTUAL proof that they are connected to those groups or you are actually handing over power to those groups unintentionally. Remember- FOCUS, use rationality, logic, and FACTS (or gtfo, to be blunt).
Another question is "Do you support giving the President the power of the line item veto for items concerning appropriations?" We HAD this once, and it was struck down as unconstitutional because it allowed the president to craft unintended legislation, if 2 line items were designed to balance each other. A better solution to "over bundling" would be to require Congress to submit bills in bite size chunks so that they COULD be vetoed separately. How can a Yes/No answer take this into account?
I read the form they ask candidates to fill out, and I can understand why many would legitimately decline. It promotes reducing complex policy issues into simplified sound bites. E.g., "Do you support reducing government regulations on the private sector?" Well, most politicians support reducing some regulations and increasing others.
If instead of just Yes/No, it also had "It Depends", with space for a 500 word clarification, then I bet they'd get much a higher response rate.
VOTE SMART IS ALL SCREWED UP! No they want answer question for they are a bunch of cowards. They don't know what they are doing so how can they tell the America people what they are doing.
Ron Paul has been dedicated to educate the People more than winning. You may not like his positions but he is extremely consistent, honest and forthright. One problem is that Americans have been taught a system that perpetuates elitism and we have been dumbed down to accept it. Dr. Paul has not bought into this system and has a consistent voting record against mainstream elitists.
