Was staying at CampCorbett,Kalahungi,India,(1km from Corbett museum when on a walk came across this PYTHON with a fresh LANGUR kill next to the KALADHUNGI CANAL',Watched the Python trying to swallow the Monkey, which was quite large till it was dark.A very unusual experience! During the night the Python managed to swallow about half the Monkey as could be seen by the Saliva marks on the Langur next morning. However it then seems to have given up, as the following day I found the snake lying in the grass, presumably absorbing energy from the sun as snakes do, next to its victim .The reason the Python was not able to swallow the Monkey I put down to the cold weather as it was close to Winter in North India and evenings required a warm Jacket ( for humans that is !)I visited the area several times in the next few days but although the Python stayed around it didnt try the swallow the Langur again. I think this was mainly due to the cold weather, but also there was also a well used village path nearby, and there was consequently considerable disturbance and this may have been a factor. This Python was about 15ft to 17ft long, but in the same area I have seen realy large ones of 20ft to 25ft+(See other videos)
