  • When you could alternatively use the H2 gas, do you also need Pt on Carbon? Also, for the last step do you need an additional work up step, like a base?

    But cool, thanks for the vids!

  • Pt H2, on? ? Last step, I am using Zn/HCl to reduce. I did not think we need base. If you have other ideas, let me know.

  • Why did you use Fe/Hcl on the last step, could you have used more Zn/Hcl?

  • yeah, you can reduce that either with Zn, Sn or Fe /HCl.

  • yeah but my question is , wouldnt the first Zn/HCl reduce both ketone and NO2 to alkyl group and NH2 since its a strong acid?

  • i kept thinking how to make people remember Fe/HCl....so yeah, I must have not thinking of that it is redundant.
