  • Thanks for the video. I will be upgrading my d610 shortly.

As others have noted you should not apply the thermal compound with your finger. You can deposit a small amount on the CPU core and then use a credit card to smear it.

  • What reccomended maximum CPU should I use? Could I put atleast a Dual-Core Processer in it?

  • thats alot of thermal paste

  • hi, is it possible, for a dell d610 2,13 ghz and 1gb ram, to play online movies from megavideo, without frozen screen . or do i need something faster

  • my problem is that my laptop overheats a lot. do i need to change the fan or will a nice clean up do the trick?

  • @RaggiGJ And also I dont think it is a good idea to apply the thermal paste to the cpu using your fingers, since your fingers have grease on them and this method also makes tiny air bubbles in the paste that reduce the cooling effect of the paste. I am no expert but this is what I have learned from many other computer specialists. It's better to apply the paste straight from the syringe/tube/plastic bag and let the cooling module spread the paste while you are re-installing it in the laptop.

  • Hello 31pockets, I have a Dell Latitude D610 also and it's been upgraded from stock to a 1,86 GHz processor and 2x1GB memory. Would it be wort it upgrading it up to a 2,1GHz processor and is 2GB really the max memory size it can handle? Also I would like to recommend to other D610 owners to disconnect the monitor cable and temporarily taping it to the display mask above so you have easier access to the cpu and cpu cooling module.

  • Thanks dude, this was really helpful! =]

  • Sorry for that last question. I found Part 1 of the d610 video and you provide more than enough info. to help me find my cpu. thanks so much for your time.
