The title just popped into my head. I played a gig then went to a music jam at a recording studio on Selma Ave in Hollywood till 4am. I came home and started writing this song. -Midnight Jack Here are the lyrics
WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT LOVE by Jack Tempchin
You know about riding top down in the rain
telling so many lies that you don't feel the pain
and kissing someone when you don't know her name
But what do you know about love
You know about asking to buy her a beer
And you know about whispering in her ear
Everything that she wants to hear
but what do you know about love
you know about drama you know how to act
you know about timing and bending the facts
and when to retreat and when to attack
but what do you know about love
What do you know about love
do you think it falls down from above
If you think it all should be sugar and spice
And you don't know about sacrifice
Than man maybe your just not getting it right
so what do you know about love
You know how to gamble and take a chance
with a moonlight walk to win some romance
but she's always leaving at the end of the dance
so what do you know about love
you know about taking a soft gentle hand
and twirling her round so she knows your a man
who's in control and whose in command
but what do you know about love
You know how to push and you know how to tease
you know how to kiss and you know how to please
and how to pretend that you never will leave
but what do you know about love
What do you know about love
do you think it falls down from above
If you think it all should be sugar and spice
And you don't know about sacrifice
Than man maybe your just not getting it right
so what do you know about love
I do believe you have another hit on your hands with this one. It's a great song. I'd be surprised if it is not recorded by a major artist. I just wish you'd show your fingers forming the chords more. Chord progressions are my main problem and seeing a pro do it really helps.

I really like this song, the story line and simple progression. It's great how you incorporated the title line in the last sentence of each verse...as it works so well by itself.. without finding a rhyme (love is a hard one)...

Great song! Liked seeing how the B section lyric has evolved from how you posted it.
