Schaap's description of Christian's playing("looking relaxed while you're driving 235 mph......and you know you'll get there")is right on the money.For his time,Charlie was as cool yet technically advanced as anyone,on any instrument.

As a kid i recall reading that C.C. 's technique was influenced by Lester Youngs tenor sax solos. Some say he was inspired by Eddie Durham. Charlie's sense of timing, his feel for Blues and his guitar tone is unique. T Bone Walker, Gatemouth Brown,Tiny Grimes, Oscar Moore,Bill Jennings,Billy Butler and hundreds more picked up on his sound.

@bobbygoesbig Not sure but I could imagine it beeing Wes Montgomery.Django Reinhardt, Joe Pass and George Benson also are genius Jazz Guitarists. The guitar definetly deserves more recognition in Jazz

Actually transcribing his solos and playing them made me realize how powerful his playing is. Every note just rocks

@Vinc90 You hitting the nail on the head! Jazz guitar is so beautiful and so unique. it deserves more attention in jazz. and to be honest in the last decade the guitarist were most innovativ in jazz!
