Thanks! this is the best brioche demo I've found! I just wanted something simple for a scarf, and had my heart set on brioche, but couldn't figure out how to do it! You rock. 5 brioches to you.
Thanks! I believe I used a standard longtail cast on for this scarf, although I'm also partial to the cable cast on.
I also read a lot of conflicting thoughts on prep rows, but in the end, I found I didn't need one at all. Many instructions start you with a prep row in a multiple of two to work up to a multiple of three, but I launched right in with the pattern on a multiple of three and it looked quite neat.
Lamb's Pride Burly Spun is 130 yards a hank for about $16 for solid colors or about $22 for variegated (as seen here). It's expensive compared to acrylics of a similar weight (I think Lion Brand has one), but that's to be expected for 100% wool. I did get this yarn for half off of retail. Let's hear it for sales!

When you say "slip one purl wise", am I supposed to do a purl stitch or just slip like I was going to purl stitch it?
Thanks for the demo. I searched for many videos to help with the brioche stitch and yours really clicked for me.
I have two questions for you. What type of cast on do you reccommend? What does your prep row consist of? (i've found many conflicting ideas on this).
Thanks so much!
