How to knit brioche rib stitch. Makes a quick, thick, reversible garment. Great for scarves and hats. This example is 12 stitches in Lamb's Pride Burly Spun on size 13 needles. From me, the Jayne hat knitter, Heather Hill at wearwithstyle dot com.

  • Loved how you explained one row...BUT what happens on the next/reverse row? Can or did you demonstrate the reverse? Thanks.

  • @gomissmo Thanks! You do exactly the same thing on every row. If you can do that first row, you can do the entire scarf!

  • I could do the stitch, but what happens when we knit back? The fabric was completely irregular. ??

  • @sazji It definitely looks odd for the first few rows. My advice is to knit three to five rows and see how it appears.

  • Question:

When you say "slip one purl wise", am I supposed to do a purl stitch or just slip like I was going to purl stitch it?

  • Just slip it like you were going to purl it. You won't actually make a new stitch, just put your needle into the stitch and move it over.

  • @sed3991 hey can anyone tell me what does van means in this Row 1 (WS): *k1, yf sl1yo, rep van *.

  • @Shimial thats what i figured... yeah it does help. so far ive got the knit stitch and purl stitch down.. ive made like 5 scarves... cant wait until i can do the brioche stitch though :)

  • @captainjude123 If you don't know anything about knitting you should start by looking for videos about: casting on ; purl stich ; knit stich ; casting off

Until you can understand those I would not recomend trying brioche stich.

    Does this help?

  • Aren't you forgetting the row when you cast back on?

  • Does anyone know how to start it? im so confused!

  • Do you know how to start this kind of way??? Or is the same for everykind of knitting??
