- 30 % of all AFU proceeds for this event go to the Interpreting scholarship fund to help supplement costs for students within the ITP program. The remainder of the proceeds are applied to performer costs for workshops and performances and interpreters for these events. AFU is researching more ways to utilize proceeds to best benefit the club and the interpreting and deaf communities.

Questions for you - I see the logo of your seems very much like Star Trek logo. Wondered if you got that idea from? What you actually do for living? Teach ASL?

Hahh the logo seems to be somewhat of a Rorschach test... some see Star Trek, others Batman; some thought it mirrored my facial hair, others saw a person in the middle with arms outstretched. It's actually a series of letters, layered upon each other, spelling my nickname: Awti.

What I do for a living: Interpret, present workshops, vlog. Oop, scratch that last one... a living = earn money. Hobbies = lose money. So vlogging is a hobby ;-) Check out my website: awtiproductions (dot) com

I did this for my humanities class. We watched films and I had to discuss a list of things that was similar to Deaf Culture and making films. Example foreign film: sets the time era and what the belief is in Shakespeare adaption of Merchant of Venice. Otherwise no one has a clue what was going on and how that time different was so different from our own. I went on into the difference of subtitles and closed captions and how they made a difference. Here's a topic I want to see explained - how to 'edit' your cinematic ASL: when to zoom in, when to rotate perspective, how much ECU vs Wide shot, etc. maybe you could break down your Deaf Ninja clip and explain its construction?
