This past series has been incredible - the finals especially - and Jeff and Rachel are now fully settled in and are equally awesome.

@TheRoomy It's the taking part which matters on Countdown, not prizes. Contestants have a true enjoyment of the game rather than being there hoping to win a car or land on the $50,000 wedge. It says a lot about the strength of the format. It doesn't have to lure applicants in with big buck$, even after 30 years.
And players don't spend a year on the show. They're on a max of 8 shows then they retire until the finals. (And it's pre-recorded, they film 5 a day so his job at McDonald's is safe)

A THOUSAND pounds? ONE THOUSAND?!?! That's IT?! They spend an ENTIRE fucking YEAR on this damn show, where the hosts probably get 10,000 pounds PER episode, and they give the person who wasted ALL that time and probably loses his job to be on the show for that long. And he gets a graduation present. He gets working at McDonalds for two months. What bullshit. I think its a great show to watch, but what an awful show for the contestants. Damn british are so terrible at rewarding winners.
