Well, it's 1992 and Kevin Anderson isn't any better than he was in the London Premiere. Ugh... No comment.

  • Meh. His "boooooulevard" doesn't bother me much. Nor does his performance here. I've always found the role of Joe as written in the musical to be sort of obnoxious anyway. Alan and most every other musical Gillis I've seen gets on my nerves at one point or another.

What really made me cringe was the weird phrasing in the last note. Other than that, I don't think he's as awful as everyone says he is.

  • We've yet to see a Joe that's actually "good."

  • @HouseOnSunset That would be William Holden..

  • @ChrisStockslager I'm not talking about the film. It's in a separate category.

  • Kev Rocks ! Fuck Off !

  • First class all the way, pumpkin?

  • He's pretty good, he's the only Joe that doesn't sound like a pansy...and he's got that 50's acting vibe going.

  • This is amazing!!! What an increbibly raw and emotionally charged performance!! This is Kevin at his absolute best, end of story. Kevin owns this part as far as I'm concerned and the heavy applause at the end of the song is totally justified.

  • well, the sydmonton audience loved his rendition...as do i.

  • "I was so lucky to have Kevin Anderson as my leading man. He is a wonderful

actor, a wonderful singer, and a great guy. I adore him."

    Patti LuPone

    from her autobiography

  • @HouseOnSunset Michael Ball would have been great judging from what I have seen from the 1st Sydmonton workshop of Sunset and his later concert performance with Petula Clarke.

  • I don't think he's that good on this video but on the cd i've got i really like him, he's always been my second favourite Joe after Hugh Jackman. I know Hugh may not have as good a voice as a lot of other Joes but his acting makes up for that, he get the arrogence that Joe is supposed to have.

  • @badwolf79 he was better as Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, oh and his singing improved when he did Oklahoma and Boy from Oz. But, I just love the rawness of Hugh's voice.

  • @CrassMufumbu He's my favourite out of all the Joe's I've listened to.

  • He has the desperation and hunger Joe must have . Yes boulevard is over done but I fault the director

  • he has the desperation and the hunger Joe must have. AND The voice

  • Creaky covered wagINs, DragINs. TERRIBLE DICTION
