And also ... to every dipshit on this thread who claims to be able to play Eruption... post a video and prove it, or STFU. We all know you're full of shit. Being able to play Eruption, especially at concert volume, doesn't mean flailing away on the arpeggio parts, with huge screeches of amp noise during transitions. Ask any professional electric guitarist alive what they think of Eruption and they'll say the same thing - it's a masterpiece and it remains influential 35 years later.

@NixxerJixxerWixxer What on earth are you talking about? Nothing on Triumph's first album sounds anything like Van Halen (which was released a little over a year after Triumph, not two). There's no tapping on it. The guitar tones are not similar at all. Rick Emmett's speed (at least on the early stuff) didn't even approach EVH. Emmett has proven to be a elite guitarist, no question. But your claims are way off the mark. And dissing Eddie, well that's just foolish.

@StudentOfLee Eddie didn't "invent" tapping. We'll never know who was the very first one to do it, but Jimmie Webster was doing it in the 1950's; and even in rock music, Harvey Mandel (Canned Heat) was doing it by 1970; Steve Hackett was doing it on Genesis recordings as early as 1973. But it's fair to say that Eddie revolutionized tapping. Buckethead refined it, but lets not forget but Stanley Jordan did either. And Paganini was doing it on violin in the 1800's.

@lukaa9 Cuz he was only like 9 wen EVH hit the scene. He may have invented tapping, but BH revolutionized it. Lets see EVH do 8 finger tapping, or neck traversing runs, or ANY runs at all for that matter.
