Eagle Confused, Eggs gone

With her last egg gone for over 4 hour now, she seems very confused, staring down at the empty nest but her instincts won't let her leave the nest yet. It was too sad to watch and this was my final recording of the nest. I hope they will try again next year.

What happened to the eggs, how could you not explain this?

The eggs were not fertile and they eventually disintegrated. The dead eggs were eaten by the parent eagles. All this was watched by millions of people around the world by live video camera. It was a big story at the time.

These two eagles had successfully raised eaglets for 13 straight years (if I remember right). This was the first unsuccesfull attempt.
