Hi there, I'm trying to design a bevel gear on rhino, (I'm new to it) could you tell me if you have a mathematical formula to cut the grooves between the teeth in such way to make the parallel to one another?

How about trying Super Sculpy? It's cheap, bakes hard, and could possibly be milled?

Great video, thanks for sharing. Hard to believe it's had 14,000 viewers and only 4 of them have bothered to click a rating.

I'm an inventor, and needed a low-cost means of making prototypes. Primarily, I mill machinable wax into molds for plastic parts. If I had to re-evaluate my purchase, I would not have gotten the lathe (which I rarely use), and I would have purchased the Sherline 5400 series milling machine, which is less expensive requires fewer calibration steps. What is your application?

Nice video, this is one of the videos that convinced me into buying a Sherline CNC mill. Thanks for posting this. I'm getting my machine tomorrow afternoon. Do you have any idea what is the best Cad Cam software for this system.

We also used 3-axis machines for ring gears and 4-axis for the mating pinion. If you want to cut your own gears on CNC machines you need a correctly designed 3d tooth surface model. Spiralbevel and ZAKGEAR are well known in the USA for providing gear modeling services for CNC gear milling.

You are certain right about that. I chose this 3D model as a test case for the mill and associated software (Cut3D) without regard to the final product. Thanks for your comment.
