I spilled a huge cup of coffee on my brand new MacBook and ruined it. In this video, I break down how I ended up getting most of my money back.

  • Ramit, Great video as always. One question I do have for you - in your post to ebay did you include a minimum for bidding or a buy it now price? Did the auction really go up to $600 + from just bidding?

  • No minimum bid - I always do $0.99 (I think that's the min). No reserve.

  • Right on dude

    That is great info

    Thanks

  • Ramit you are Indian for sure man! You know how to negotiate old school style. Love it !

  • You should have also contacted the end user if the Mac 2 months down the road to see if it did work? Then it would have helped you complete your life lesson.

  • I have a question ... how were you able to get something reimbursed from your credit card if you SOLD the merchandise? The proof from the repair shop was valid to cover? If so WOW!

  • most debit cards even have that. I held on to the pamphlet

  • Thank you for the reminder that major purchases have the price protection guarantees!

  • nice strategy. It amazes me that people would pay more for a mac that doesn't work than a comparable, brand new hp/dell (especially when you can make it a hackintosh), but way to use all of your options to your greatest advantage.

  • You're a genius...GENIUS!!

    Thanks Ramit

  • Were you able to wipe the drive clean with all your personal info - identity theft precaution?
