BMW RT1100 VS HARLEY 1/8 MILE DRAG

Having some fun at the track on my 96 bmw rt1100 with a harley sportster 1200. The Harley was slightly modified; pipes, carb, K&N air filter.

That guy was riding, I think, about a mid 90's Sportster 1200 with pipe and carb improvements. We were just racing for fun. I think he was a little suprised by the BMW touring bikes performance though! I miss that bike!

Harleys are beautiful bikes, but I like BMW because I can actually STOP with the brakes, go around corners without dragging footpegs, and when i slam on the brakes the bike doesn't nose dive thanks to duolever. Harley= ART BMW= ENGINEERING.

Goes to show the engineering expertise of BMW - fewer cc's but better performance, response, durability, comfort, etc. All bikes are fun, just some are more fun than others.

Wow, that's embarassing for the Harley rider. He was just smoked by an old BMW bike with an old boxer engine. Just goes to show ya that Harley is nothing more than a marketing company that makes motorcycles. That explains why most Harley riders can't ride worth a damn. If you want image then go Harley, if you want true engineering excellence and a bond between rider and machine, go with the German machine, there's no substitute.

Harley realizes they don't have to make racing bikes to sell them. Most buy for cruising or touring on a piece of art. They make classic styles that other manufacturers have attempted to copy for years. As long as they are dependable thats most important and having owned a Honda and 2 HDs, they are definately pretty solid dependable rides.
